The Journey to Backyard Pet Services

Cathy’s passion for pet care stems from her personal experience as a pet owner with a demanding career that required frequent travel. Understanding the challenges of balancing work and pet ownership, she founded Backyard Pet Services to provide reliable and loving care for pets in her community.

Expertise

• Pet Care: Cathy was literally born into the pet care business as her mother was an AKC miniature dachshund breeder in the Phoenix area during the 1970’s and 1980’s.  Cathy learned all there is to know about caring for pets and whelping pups at a very early age.  Cathy is a member of Pet Sitter Associates and Pet Sitters International and earned PSI’s Certified Professional Pet Sitter certification in 2018. Cathy is also certified in Pet First Aid through Pro Pet Hero. 
• Entrepreneurship: Successfully founded and manages Backyard Pet Services, a thriving pet care business in the McKinney area.
• Customer Service: Dedicated to providing personalized and compassionate service to pet owners, ensuring their peace of mind while away from their beloved companions. 

Experience

• Previous Career: Cathy received her B.S. from the University of North Texas and earned her CPA license in 1990.  She joined EDS in 1988 and left there to begin a career in consultancy with EquaTerra in 1999.  Prior to founding Backyard Pet Services, Cathy was a Director in KPMG’s management consulting group.  During her professional career, Cathy worked with Fortune 500 advisory clients throughout North America and Central Europe as they sought to transform their finance, accounting, HR, payroll and other back-office processes. 
• Founding Backyard Pet Services: Cathy established Backyard Pet Services in 2018 to address the need that she personally experienced while traveling for business for over 20 years.  Her mission was and is to eliminate pet owner anxiety by providing high-quality, reliable pet care in the Allen, McKinney, Prosper, Fairview and Frisco areas. 
• Community Involvement: Cathy volunteered at the Perry Animal Services Center (SPCA) prior to its closing and now volunteers at the Collin County Animal Shelter.
